What is snail bite?

Snails are not known to bite humans as a form of defense or for hunting. However, they do have a radula, which is a specialized feeding structure that resembles a tongue with tiny, sharp teeth. If a person were to handle a snail and it were to use its radula to scrape or scratch the skin, it could potentially cause some discomfort or irritation. In rare cases, some individuals may have an allergic reaction to snail slime, which could cause redness, swelling, or itching at the site of contact. Overall, snail bites are not a common occurrence and are generally harmless.
